Don’t Just Learn Spanish—Live It!

Don’t Just Learn Spanish—Live It! •

Mérida 2026 will be our first edition in Yucatán, but it is built on the success, care, and community of our previous immersion experiences.

Our 2025 Immersion Trips were more than “just a trip”.
It was a shared journey filled with connection, growth, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

Before leaving Mexico, we asked our students to reflect on their experience.

Here’s what they shared with us:

“I can honestly say this trip went above and beyond expectations. I had full trust in the team and I loved just allowing the ALM team take control (although I know that’s not for everyone). It’s been more than 15 years since I’ve had a proper holiday just for myself or just with my wife. I cannot express how much this trip meant for me. The love and care provided by the team was exceptional. Especially during periods of emotional difficulties with a number of members of the group. I really hope you do another one.”

— John, Guanajuato 2025

“The attention to detail was exceptional, it really made the trip extra special. I loved ALL the variety of activities and new experiences. I especially liked the authentic experiences such as; Andrea’s favorites, spiritual, and family/friends. I felt like I was traveling with Andrea’s friends and family and getting a personal tour and invitation to join her family and friends in an intimate setting. It was extremely special 🥰
As a solo traveler and introvert, I never felt left out which I appreciated very much. Thank you! Amazing amazing amazing trip! Muchas gracias!”

— Brandy, Guanajuato 2025

“This was one of the best travel experiences of my life. The warmth and support from Andrea & Adri and the rest of the team, the bonds we formed with all of the other students, the fun & excitement of learning a new language, and all of the fun and activities combined were really special and something that would be hard to reproduce. I'm sure we'll be able to do it in Oaxaca or somewhere else next year though!”

— Joey, Guanajuato 2025

As you may have seen above, many of our past participants shared their desire to explore a new destination in Mexico, so… We listened!

That’s why we’re taking everything we learned (every detail, every insight, every beautiful moment) and bringing it to a new destination: Mérida, Yucatán*.

Why is this experience different?

Mérida is not simply another destination… It’s a deeper, more layered experience.

This edition includes eight nights and nine days carefully designed so that you don’t have to worry about logistics, planning, or daily coordination. From the moment you arrive, transportation, activities, and cultural visits are thoughtfully organized for you.

Every day includes meaningful experiences, from exploring colonial streets to visiting breathtaking natural sites and ancient Mayan wonders (including one of the Seven Wonders of the World… but we’ll keep that between us for now 🤫👀).

You won’t need to arrange tours, book tickets, coordinate drivers, or research restaurants. Everything has been personally selected and tested in advance to ensure quality, comfort, and authenticity.

This journey also includes carefully chosen dining experiences, including one very special restaurant we’re keeping as a surprise.

More time
More movement
More experiences
More immersion

This is not just a trip… It’s a fully designed cultural journey.

If you’d like to be part of this new chapter, we invite you to read the details below carefully and explore everything this experience includes.

*Spots will be limited to just 17 participants to preserve the depth and intimacy of the experience.

Who Is This For?

This trip is for you if you:

  • Want to take your Spanish beyond apps and textbooks, and start living it in real conversations.

  • Value cultural depth, meaningful connection, and shared experiences.

  • Prefer learning through exploration, food, history, and interaction rather than a traditional classroom setting.

  • Are open to growing, even if that means speaking imperfect Spanish.

⚠️ A Note on Spanish Level: To fully enjoy this experience, it’s important that you already have a basic foundation in Spanish and can understand everyday conversations. You don’t need to be fluent, this trip is about growth, not perfection.

And you won’t be alone.

Andrea and her team speak English, and many participants also share English as a common language. We often use crosstalk, a supportive method where you can respond in the language you’re most comfortable with while still receiving Spanish input.

This creates a safe and encouraging environment where you can participate confidently while naturally expanding your comprehension and speaking ability.

Our goal is for you to feel supported, challenged, and constantly improving without pressure.

Why Mérida?

  • A City Full of History and Heart - Mérida is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich cities in Mexico. Here, Mayan heritage, colonial elegance, and everyday Mexican life blend in a way that feels both vibrant and deeply rooted. It’s a city that invites you to slow down, walk its colorful streets, sit in a plaza, and actually talk in Spanish.

  • Deep Mayan Roots - From the awe-inspiring ruins of Chichén-Itzá to the magical cenotes hidden throughout the region, Yucatán holds stories that are thousands of years old. Being here is not just sightseeing; it’s connection.

  • A Safe and Welcoming Environment - Mérida is known for being one of the safest cities in Mexico, which allows you to explore freely, practice confidently, and truly relax into the experience.

  • A Culinary Experience Like No Other - Yucatán has one of the most unique regional cuisines in the country. From slow-cooked cochinita pibil to fresh handmade tortillas and vibrant local flavors, every meal becomes part of your Spanish journey.

  • Personally Curated by Andrea - Earlier this year, Andrea traveled to Mérida to visit the hotel, explore the city, test restaurants, and experience every activity firsthand.

Nothing was chosen randomly. Every detail was selected with care.

Because this isn’t just a trip... It’s an experience designed to feel intentional, meaningful, and unforgettable.

🛂 Visas and passports – Any entry requirements to Mexico are your responsibility. Please make sure to check them before finalizing your purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is an unforgettable cultural and language experience designed to take your Spanish beyond textbooks and into real life — guided by Andrea La Mexicana herself.

For eight nights and nine days, you’ll explore Mérida, Yucatán — a city rich in Mayan heritage, colonial beauty, and vibrant everyday life.

This is not a traditional class or a tourist trip.

It’s a carefully curated immersion where language, culture, food, history, and meaningful connection come together in one powerful experience.

You’ll laugh, explore, speak Spanish in real contexts, share meals, visit breathtaking places, and create memories that stay with you long after the journey ends.

  • Each day is designed around real-life immersion. While there are some Spanish sessions to guide and support your learning, most of the experience happens naturally through everyday activities.

You’ll practice Spanish while exploring the city, sharing meals, participating in cultural experiences, and interacting with locals — all in a relaxed, supportive environment.

This trip is about living the language, not sitting in a classroom. It’s the perfect balance between guidance, culture, and meaningful real-world practice.

  • It’s an immersion experience that blends both language and culture — with a strong focus on real-life use of Spanish.

There will be a limited number of structured Spanish sessions (up to three, held in the mornings) to support your learning. However, this is not a traditional classroom-based course.

Most of your Spanish practice happens naturally throughout the day — while exploring the city, visiting markets and museums, sharing meals, and experiencing daily life in Mexico.

The focus of the trip is living the language, not sitting in a classroom.

  • To fully enjoy this immersion experience, we recommend having at least a basic foundation in Spanish. You don’t need to be fluent, but being able to understand everyday conversations and express simple ideas will allow you to participate more confidently and get the most out of the journey.

This trip is designed for growth, not perfection.

Andrea and her team speak English, and many participants also share English as a common language. We often incorporate crosstalk, a supportive approach where you can respond in the language you’re most comfortable with while continuing to receive Spanish input.

Our goal is for you to feel challenged, supported, and continuously improving throughout the experience.

If you’re unsure whether your level is a good fit, feel free to reach out — we’re happy to guide you.

  • This trip is designed for adults 18 and older. There’s no upper age limit, just keep in mind that we’ll be walking through the city and doing light to moderate physical activity most days.

  • You do not need to be fluent in Spanish to join this Immersion Trip.

However, this experience is best for participants who already have a upper-begginner level of understanding, especially when it comes to listening comprehension. Since most of the trip happens in a Spanish-speaking environment, being able to follow conversations and instructions will help you feel more comfortable and fully enjoy the experience.

The goal is not perfection, it’s participation, confidence, and growth.

  • Yes, as long as you are 18 or older and feel excited to explore, walk, and engage with the culture and language. We welcome adults of all ages.

  • This immersion is intentionally designed as a shared, full-participation experience. The investment includes accommodation, daily meals, transportation, cultural visits, and guided activities — all thoughtfully integrated into the language and cultural journey.

For that reason, we strongly encourage companions to participate in the full experience alongside the group.

While we do incorporate crosstalk and English support when needed, Spanish will naturally be present throughout the trip. A companion who does not speak or understand any Spanish may feel somewhat disconnected from parts of the experience, as much of the communication and activities are designed around language immersion.

If you are considering bringing someone who does not wish to engage in the Spanish components, please contact us at hola@andrealamexicana.com before registering so we can discuss the best possible arrangement.

Please note that pricing remains the same, as all experiences and logistics are included in the program design.

  • This will be eight nights and nine days of connection, discovery, culture, and Spanish lived in real time.

Yes, there will be guided Spanish immersion sessions, but this is not about just sitting in a classroom.

Andrea and her team will guide you throughout the journey, creating a supportive environment where growth feels exciting, not intimidating.

By the end of the week, you won’t just have practiced Spanish.

    You’ll have lived it.

  • About one month before the trip, you’ll receive important information to help you prepare, including packing suggestions, weather tips, and general recommendations.

At that time, we’ll also share a high-level overview of the itinerary, so you have a clear sense of how the week will flow, without giving away all the surprises.

A more detailed day-by-day itinerary, along with your welcome kit, will be shared upon arrival. This allows us to stay flexible and keep some of the experience as a surprise, while still making sure you feel informed and prepared.

  • The heart of this experience is practical, real-life immersion.

There will be guided Spanish immersion sessions throughout the week intentionally designed to support your growth, clarify questions, and reinforce what you’re experiencing each day.

However, most of your language development will happen naturally and organically: during cultural visits, shared meals, guided excursions, group reflections, games, and everyday interactions throughout Mérida and its surroundings.

This is not a traditional classroom-based course.

It’s a structured yet dynamic immersion where Spanish becomes part of your daily rhythm — lived, spoken, and experienced in authentic contexts.

  • From the moment you arrive, Spanish becomes the shared language of the experience.

Our team communicates primarily in Spanish (always adjusted to your level), and all guided sessions and activities are conducted in Spanish to create a consistent immersion environment.

We intentionally foster a group culture where everyone is encouraged to participate, speak, ask questions, and support one another. Making mistakes is not just allowed, it’s part of the process.

When needed, we incorporate crosstalk and light English support to ensure clarity and comfort. However, Spanish remains the foundation of daily interactions, conversations, and shared experiences.

    The goal isn’t perfection.

It’s confidence, growth, and real communication in a safe and encouraging space.

  • Yes. Mérida is widely recognized as one of the safest cities in Mexico and is known for its welcoming atmosphere, strong sense of community, and high quality of life.

It’s a vibrant cultural capital with a relaxed rhythm, friendly locals, and a strong local identity that makes visitors feel comfortable and at ease.

As with traveling anywhere in the world, we always recommend using common sense and being mindful of your surroundings. However, Mérida has an excellent reputation for safety and is considered a very secure destination for visitors.

  • Mérida is widely regarded as one of the safest cities in Mexico and is known for its peaceful atmosphere, strong community presence, and welcoming environment.

The downtown area is lively and walkable, with families, locals, and visitors enjoying the plazas, restaurants, and cultural spaces throughout the day and evening.

During group activities, you will be accompanied by Andrea and the team, and we will always share practical safety guidance so you can explore with confidence.

As with any destination in the world, we encourage common-sense travel awareness, but overall, Mérida has an excellent reputation for safety and is considered a very secure place to visit.

  • Absolutely, the Courtyard by Marriott Mérida Downtown is located in a central and well-established area of the city, known for its accessibility, vibrant atmosphere, and proximity to restaurants, cultural spaces, and local attractions.

This part of Mérida is active, welcoming, and frequently visited by both locals and international travelers. Its central location allows us to explore comfortably while returning each evening to a secure and well-appointed hotel environment.

As always, we encourage mindful travel practices, but you can feel confident staying in this area.

If you’d like to explore on your own during free time, we’ll gladly share recommendations for safe transportation options such as taxis or rideshare services.

  • Most of our daily activities involve walking at a comfortable pace while exploring the city, cultural spaces, and local neighborhoods.

There will be movement throughout the day, including time spent outdoors, occasional stairs, and periods of standing during guided visits.

Mérida’s climate is generally warm, so we recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing, and staying hydrated.

If you have limited mobility or specific physical considerations, we encourage you to contact us before registering so we can discuss whether this experience is the right fit for yo (hola@andrealamexicana.com)

While we always aim to be supportive and flexible, this is an active immersion experience designed around shared group activities.

  • Mérida is generally more flat and accessible than many historic Mexican cities. However, it’s important to note that not all areas were designed with modern accessibility standards in mind.

While some streets, hotels, and public spaces are accessible, certain sidewalks may be uneven, and some museums, restaurants, or cultural sites may have steps or limited accommodations.

Our activities involve movement throughout the city and participation in group excursions, and full accessibility cannot be guaranteed in every location.

We deeply care about creating an inclusive and supportive environment. If you have mobility considerations or accessibility needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us at hola@andrealamexicana.com before registering so we can have an open conversation and determine whether this experience would be a comfortable and appropriate fit for you.
