What past students are saying…
Our first Immersion Trip in 2025 was more than just a trip, it was a shared experience filled with connection, learning, laughter, and unforgettable moments.
Before leaving Guanajuato, we asked our students to reflect on their experience.
Here’s what they shared with us:
“I can honestly say this trip went above and beyond expectations. I had full trust in the team and I loved just allowing the ALM team take control (although I know that’s not for everyone). It’s been more than 15 years since I’ve had a proper holiday just for myself or just with my wife. I cannot express how much this trip meant for me. The love and care provided by the team was exceptional. Especially during periods of emotional difficulties with a number of members of the group. I really hope you do another one.”
— John H.“The attention to detail was exceptional, it really made the trip extra special. I loved ALL the variety of activities and new experiences. I especially liked the authentic experiences such as; Andrea’s favorites, spiritual, and family/friends. I felt like I was traveling with Andrea’s friends and family and getting a personal tour and invitation to join her family and friends in an intimate setting. It was extremely special 🥰
As a solo traveler and introvert, I never felt left out which I appreciated very much. Thank you! Amazing amazing amazing trip! Muchas gracias!”
— Brandy“That Mexicans lovveeee to party. They know how to have a good time and are incredibly generous - especially to their guests. For my first ever immersion trip and first ever time in Mexico, I had an absolute blast. Thank you so so much for all of your efforts.”
— Daryl“This was one of the best travel experiences of my life. The warmth and support from Andrea & Adri and the rest of the team, the bonds we formed with all of the other students, the fun & excitement of learning a new language, and all of the fun and activities combined were really special and something that would be hard to reproduce. I'm sure we'll be able to do it in Oaxaca or somewhere else next year though!”
— Joey“My key take away is that Andrea and her team are really good at what they do. Not only in the planning of this trip but also seeing how many people she has helped in learning and improving in speaking spanish. I'm grateful to have experienced something like this and Im looking forward to the next one.”
— EduardoOur students didn’t just enjoy the trip — they truly loved it. 💛
Every participant said the experience met or exceeded their expectations, and almost all rated it a perfect 10 out of 10!
Most importantly, every single student said they would recommend this Immersion Trip to a friend.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
This is an unforgettable cultural and language experience designed to take your Spanish beyond textbooks and into real life, guided by Andrea La Mexicana herself.
You’ll explore Guanajuato: a colorful colonial city known for its rich history, artistic spirit, and vibrant everyday life.
This is not a traditional class or a typical tourist trip.
It’s a carefully curated immersion where language, culture, food, history, and meaningful connection come together in one powerful experience.
You’ll laugh, explore, practice Spanish in real contexts, share meals, walk through beautiful streets, discover local traditions, and create memories that stay with you long after the journey ends.
-
Each day is designed around real-life immersion. While there are some Spanish sessions to guide and support your learning, most of the experience happens naturally through everyday activities.
You’ll practice Spanish while exploring the city, sharing meals, participating in cultural experiences, and interacting with locals — all in a relaxed, supportive environment.
This trip is about living the language, not sitting in a classroom. It’s the perfect balance between guidance, culture, and meaningful real-world practice.
-
It’s an immersion experience that blends both language and culture: with a strong focus on real-life use of Spanish.
There will be a limited number of structured Spanish sessions (up to three, held in the mornings) to support your learning. However, this is not a traditional classroom-based course.
Most of your Spanish practice happens naturally throughout the day, while exploring the city, visiting markets and museums, sharing meals, and experiencing daily life in Mexico.
The focus of the trip is living the language, not sitting in a classroom.
-
To fully enjoy this immersion experience, we recommend having at least a basic foundation in Spanish (at least upper-beginner). You don’t need to be fluent, but being able to understand everyday conversations and express simple ideas will allow you to participate more confidently and get the most out of the journey.
This trip is designed for growth, not perfection.
Andrea and her team speak English, and many participants also share English as a common language. We often incorporate crosstalk, a supportive approach where you can respond in the language you’re most comfortable with while continuing to receive Spanish input.
Our goal is for you to feel challenged, supported, and continuously improving throughout the experience.
If you’re unsure whether your level is a good fit, feel free to reach out; we’re happy to guide you.
-
This trip is designed for adults 18 and older. There’s no upper age limit, just keep in mind that we’ll be walking through the city and doing light to moderate physical activity most days.
-
You do not need to be fluent in Spanish to join this Immersion Trip.
However, this experience is best for participants who already have a upper-begginer level of understanding, especially when it comes to listening comprehension. Since most of the trip happens in a Spanish-speaking environment, being able to follow conversations and instructions will help you feel more comfortable and fully enjoy the experience.
The goal is not perfection, it’s participation, confidence, and growth.
-
Yes, as long as you are 18 or older and feel excited to explore, walk, and engage with the culture and language. We welcome adults of all ages.
-
This immersion is intentionally designed as a shared, full-participation experience. The investment includes accommodation, daily meals, transportation, cultural visits, and guided activities; all thoughtfully integrated into the language and cultural journey.
For that reason, we strongly encourage companions to participate in the full experience alongside the group.
While we do incorporate crosstalk and English support when needed, Spanish will naturally be present throughout the trip. A companion who does not speak or understand any Spanish may feel somewhat disconnected from parts of the experience, as much of the communication and activities are designed around language immersion.
If you are considering bringing someone who does not wish to engage in the Spanish components, please contact us at hola@andrealamexicana.com before registering so we can discuss the best possible arrangement.
Please note that pricing remains the same, as all experiences and logistics are included in the program design.

-
About one month before the trip, you’ll receive important information to help you prepare, including packing suggestions, weather tips, and general recommendations.
At that time, we’ll also share a high-level overview of the itinerary, so you have a clear sense of how the week will flow, without giving away all the surprises.
A more detailed day-by-day itinerary, along with your welcome kit, will be shared upon arrival. This allows us to stay flexible and keep some of the experience as a surprise, while still making sure you feel informed and prepared.
-
The focus of this experience is practical, real-life immersion.
There will be a limited number of structured Spanish sessions to support and guide your learning, but most of your Spanish practice happens naturally throughout the day while exploring the city, visiting markets and museums, walking together, playing games, and sharing conversations.
This is not a traditional classroom-based course. It’s an immersive, social, and real way to practice Spanish in everyday situations.
-
From the moment you arrive, Spanish becomes the shared language of the experience.
Our team communicates primarily in Spanish (always adjusted to your level), and all guided sessions and activities are conducted in Spanish to create a consistent immersion environment.
We intentionally foster a group culture where everyone is encouraged to participate, speak, ask questions, and support one another. Making mistakes is not just allowed, it’s part of the process.
When needed, we incorporate crosstalk and light English support to ensure clarity and comfort. However, Spanish remains the foundation of daily interactions, conversations, and shared experiences.
The goal isn’t perfection.
It’s confidence, growth, and real communication in a safe and encouraging space.
-
Yes. Guanajuato is a peaceful, artistic, and touristic city known for its welcoming locals and vibrant cultural life. Like anywhere in the world, we recommend using common sense, but overall it’s considered very safe for visitors.
-
Guanajuato is one of the safest cities in central Mexico for tourists. The historic center is active and walkable, with lots of people out at all hours. We’ll be with you during group activities, and we’ll share safety tips to help you feel confident while exploring.
-
Absolutely. Hotel Posada Santa Fe is located in the heart of the city’s historic center, a vibrant, tourist-friendly area filled with museums, restaurants, and cafés. It’s a wonderful place to stay.
-
Guanajuato is a walkable city! Most places we visit will be accessible on foot, and walking is part of the charm. For longer excursions, transportation is included. We’ll also give you advice for finding taxis and other local options if you wish to explore on your own.
-
Most of our activities involve walking at a relaxed pace. Guanajuato is a very walkable city, but there are hills, stairs, and uneven sidewalks in many areas.
If you have limited mobility or need to rest often, we recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes and being prepared for some physical activity. We’ll always try to accommodate individual needs, and you’re free to skip any activity if needed.
-
Guanajuato is a beautiful and historic city, but it’s important to know that it was not designed with accessibility in mind. The city is known for its narrow streets, cobblestone roads, tunnels, stairs, and frequent ups and downs.
While there are some flatter areas and accessible spaces, many parts of the city are not wheelchair-friendly. Most of our activities take place in the central area, where walking is the main way to get around, and some museums, restaurants, and public spaces may have steps or uneven surfaces.
We care deeply about creating an inclusive and supportive experience, and we will always do our best to assist and adapt whenever possible. That said, we strongly encourage anyone with accessibility needs to reach out to us before joining (hola@andrealamexicana.com), so we can have an honest conversation and help determine whether this trip would be a good fit.
-
Yes, the hotel we’ll be staying at has rooms with elevators available and basic accessibility features. However, if you require a fully wheelchair-adapted room (with specific features like grab bars in the bathroom, wider doors, etc.), please contact us directly so we can check availability and request it in advance.
-
Fly into Bajío International Airport (BJX). From there, we’ll arrange transportation to take you straight to the hotel in Guanajuato. Alternatively, you can also use the Guanajuato or León bus stations as other options.
-
You must fly into Bajío International Airport (BJX). This is the only airport where we will provide pickup and drop-off. However, if for any reason you arrive by bus, whether at the Guanajuato bus station or the León bus station, we will also arrange to pick you up.
-
Yes! Pre-arranged transportation will be waiting for you at the BJX airport on arrival day to take you directly to the hotel, and we’ll also arrange your transportation back to the airport at the end of the trip.
-

Guanajuato in November is typically mild and pleasant during the day, with cooler mornings and evenings due to the city’s elevation.
You can expect daytime temperatures ranging between the mid-60s to mid-70s °F (18–24°C), with evenings and early mornings feeling noticeably cooler. Rain is uncommon during this time of year, making it a comfortable season to explore the city on foot.
We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, layers for changing temperatures throughout the day, and a light jacket or sweater for the evenings.
Guanajuato sits at a higher elevation, so temperatures can change quickly between day and night.Closer to the trip, we will send a detailed packing guide with seasonal recommendations to help you prepare with confidence.
-
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. Citizens of the U.S., Canada, and most European countries typically do not need a visa for short-term tourism.
⚠️ Rules can change, so it’s always recommended that participants verify requirements directly with their local Mexican consulate before traveling. -
Yes! Once your spot is confirmed, we’ll add you to a WhatsApp group with the other participants. We’ll use this group to share updates, answer questions, and get to know each other before the trip.
